SGM James Boone was born in St. Petersburg, Florida on 25 November 1950. He was drafted into the Army in 1970. He only served 18 months and enlisted in the Army in 1974. His military education includes the Primary, Basic, and Advanced Non-commissioned Officers Course, the Drill Sergeant, First Sergeant, and the Sergeant Major Course.
SGM Boone has served in numerous positions throughout his military career as an Infantryman. These include: Squad Member, Team Member, and Squad Leader, C Company 1st Battalion 18th Infantry, Ft. Riley, Kansas; Squad Leader, C Company 1st Battalion 4th Infantry, Wiesbaden, Germany; Drill Sergeant B Company 2nd BDE, Ft. Jackson, SC; Platoon Sergeant and First Sergeant C Company 3rd Battalion 6th Infantry, Ft. Polk, LA; First Sergeant B Company 1st Battalion 5th Infantry, Camp Kobe, Korea; Operational Sergeant North Georgia College (Senior ROTC), Dahlonega, GA; and completing his assignment as G3 Air Sergeant Major, HHC I Corps, Ft. Lewis, WA.
After retirement from active duty, SGM Boone delivery radiation to several local hospitals for about 8 months. He then assumed his current position as an Army Instructor at Booker T. Washington.
SGM Boone’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medical (2nd Oak Leaf Cluster), the Army Commendation Medal (3rd Oak Leaf Cluster), the Army Achievement Medal (4th Oak Leaf Cluster), and the Drill Sergeant Identification Badge.
SGM Boone is married to the former Brenda J. Chandler of Shreveport, LA. They have one daughter, Breana and three sons: Tory, James Jr. and Brandon.
