At Booker T. Washington, the letter grading system issued with "A","B","C","D", and "F" represents the grades.

The grade "A" is the distinctly honor grade and represents work of definitely superior quality. This grade is reserved for outstanding students. To obtain an "A", the student must complete all assignments neatly done and make real contributions to class. He must work independently and have sufficient initiative and interest to undertake original projects beyond assigned work.

The grade "B" represents work of excellent quality and is given to those students and is given to those students who do work clearly above average. To receive this grade, students must master a major portion of the assigned work, participate in class, complete all written work neatly and on time, and show evidence of ability to apply principles.

The grade "C" represents work of average quality and is given to students who do average work.

A "D" mark represents work that is regarded as passable according to the minimum requirements of the course or that is regarded as the best the student can do.

An "F" denotes failure.

***STUDENTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN ANY ACTIVITY THAT REMOVES THEM FROM ANY OF THEIR SEVEN CLASSES IF THEIR GRADE IS BELOW A 74% "C".

The mid-semester (9 weeks) grade reflects the student's percentage grade at that point during the semester.

The semester grade is cumulative from the first day of the school until the end of the semester in most courses. Grades are cumulative for the year in courses that are taken for more than one credit. The semester examination will count no more than twenty percent (20%) in computation of the semester grade.

A graduating senior is exempt from semester exam(s) in the 2nd semester if he/she has 90% or better on his/her 1st semester grade (if applicable) and 90% or better for the semester grading period preceding semester exam(s) for the second semester. If a senior is exempt, then the semester exam grade is the same as the grade earned for the semester grading period preceding the exam. A qualifying senior may elect to take the exam.

The weighted grading system for the two phases in high schools is used in averaging semester grades for all courses to determine a cumulative grade point average.
